FERNDALE, Wash. — Forecasters in the National Weather Service Seattle office say heavy rains are expected over much of western Washington, including the northern Cascades, and has issued an Flood Watch for the Nooksack River and others today as a result.

The Flood Watch is in effect from Thursday evening through Sunday evening and warns of the risk of minor flooding of the Nooksack River along with urban and small stream flooding.

The December 17th, 5:20pm river level forecast at Ferndale says to expect the Nooksack River to crest in Ferndale past the 17-foot mark about 11pm Friday.

Historically, road and property impacts begin occurring when the river reaches and passes the 15-foot mark.
