Updated: Motorcyclist transported to hospital after crash on Reese Hill Road

SUMAS, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to Reese Hill Road at Eagles Roost Drive about 4:50pm, Saturday, April 2nd, due to a report of a motorcycle crash.

Whatcom County Fire District 14 Assistant Fire Chief David Moe said he arrived at the scene to find a motorcyclist had left the road and struck a pole. Another motorcyclist riding with the injured rider had begun administering CPR at the scene and was joined by Moe until medics arrived.

The motorcyclist was revived and transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center via advanced life support (ALS) protocol.

Moe said it appeared the motorcyclist may have had a medical emergency prior to the crash.

The Washington State Patrol are investigating.

Update 4/6/22 9:30pm: WSP reported the 74-year-old motorcyclist died at the hospital on April 6th. They confirmed he had a medical episode just prior to leaving the roadway.
