7:35am: Good morning. Temperatures are in the upper 50s around Ferndale under overcast skies with a breeze from the south. Air quality is being reported in the GOOD range.
TRAFFIC
Washington Street between Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue remains closed to through traffic until at least September. The official detour route is via Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue.
The Lummi Island ferry, Whatcom Chief, will be ending service early this evening to allow work to be done on the terminal ramps. Service will be interrupted between 10:20pm and 5:30am each night through Thursday morning.

Click for more informationResurfacing work continues on I-5 as workers are now striping the new surfaces. Tonight, between 8pm and 6am, drivers can expect the I-5 northbound on- and off-ramps at Portal Way (Exit 263), Grandview Road (Exit 266), Birch Bay-Lynden Road (Exit 270) and Peace Portal Way (Exit 274) to be closed. Note that only one interchange’s ramps will be closed at any time as the work crew makes their way northward. And, as always, drivers can expect one lane of I-5 northbound to be closed through the work areas.
Otherwise, commute routes in and out of Ferndale are currently open with no visible surprises. Check the current WSDOT traffic cams and commute time estimates anytime by clicking here.
