FERNDALE, Wash. — According to the 3:30am Nooksack River level forecast at Ferndale, the river level is expected to crest around 6pm today, October 22nd, at about the 16-foot mark.

Heavy rains in the north Cascade Mountains has resulted in driving the river level upward.

As of 6am this morning, the river was reported to be just past the 13-foot mark.

At around the 15-foot mark, the following road impacts can be expected:

  • water over the roadway on Ferndale Road north of Marine Drive and also north of Slater Road
  • water over the roadway at the corner of Barrett and Paradise Roads
  • flooding of the WDFW parking lot on Marine Drive
  • water over the roadway at corner of Marine Drive south of Country Lane

At 16 feet, the river can be expected to begin spilling over its banks into low pasture lands flooding some roadways that are not protected by levees including Marine Drive and Ferndale Road.

Drivers are advised to obey road closed signs and not drive through flooded areas; the cause of most flood related deaths in Washington. Be alert for rapid changes and monitor developments at the Nooksack River level forecast at Ferndale.
