Minor coastal flooding possible on Whatcom County shores tomorrow (Tuesday)

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the National Weather Service Seattle office issued a coastal flood advisory today, Monday, February 20th, for tomorrow due to the potential for minor tidal flooding.

The advisory is in effect tomorrow from 4am to 10am.

The advisory area extends from Everett through northwest Puget Sound inland waters, including Whatcom County coastal areas.

According to the advisory, “Inundation of up to 0.5 feet above ground level is possible along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas. Minor coastal flooding due to tidal overflow is expected around high tide. This may lead to flooding of parking lots, parks, and roads, with only isolated road closures expected.”

A 9.8-foot high tide is forecast for 6:30am tomorrow at Cherry Point. Sustained west-southwesterly winds of 14 to 32mph are expected around that time.
