A Bellingham Police press release says the Whatcom County Support Officers and the Behind the Badge Foundation have been working with interim Lynden Police Chief Michael Knapp’s family and the City of Lynden regarding his memorial. Former Ferndale Police Chief Knapp died Wednesday, November 6th, after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing a Lynden street. He was 79.

The memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20th, at 1pm at the Bellingham Christ the King Church, 4173 Meridian Street, Bellingham. The memorial will also be live-streamed to the Lynden Christ the King Church. The public is welcome to attend at either location.

My Ferndale News has been granted permission to stream the memorial service online for those who cannot attend. More details on that will be provided closer to the event.

A memorial fund has been established at People’s Bank.  Donations can be made to the “Chief Michael Knapp Memorial Fund” at any People’s Bank location or at the Lynden Police Department.
