Just a quick heads up (pun intended). A total eclipse of the Sun is forecast to occur in 2017 and the Ferndale area is near enough to the path to make this a potentially unique once-in-a-lifetime experience.
According to NASA scientists, the path of the eclipse will arc across the United States from South Carolina to Oregon. For those in the path of the eclipse, the totality phase will last up to 5 seconds and less the further from the path you are.
Ferndale is about 300 miles north of the center of the path which means we won’t be seeing a total eclipse but the partial eclipse will still be substantial.
Mark your calendars for August 21st, 2017 at 9:10am. This is when the eclipse will begin. The maximum eclipse will occur about 10:20am and the partial eclipse will end at 11:40am.
