According to Puget Sound Energy (PSE), a large area of north Ferndale lost power after 1pm today impacting almost 1900 PSE customers, including schools.
According to the Ferndale School District, the two high schools have power but Cascadia Elementary, Central Elementary, Eagleridge Elementary, Skyline Elementary, Horizon Middle School and Vista Middle School do not.
The district said in an announcement,

We are working with Puget Power to restore power as soon as possible. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
At 2pm, district officials announced,
All secondary schools (Ferndale High, Windward High, Horizon Middle, Vista Middle) will be released 10 minutes early. All Elementary schools will be released at the regular time.
PSE reported 1870 customers were without power in this one outage area. Nearly 500 are without power across 13 other outages in the area. A windstorm has been hitting the area for the past several hours with wind gusts over 60mph.
