Man transported to hospital after crashing ATV along Guide Meridian

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — A Sedro-Woolley man was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center by a medic unit after crashing an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) into some mailboxes along Guide Meridian.

According to a press memo from Washington State Patrol, the 34-year-old man was driving an orange 2008 KTM 525 XC ATV northbound on the southbound shoulder in the 5500 block of Guide Meridian about 3pm when he left the roadway to the left and struck multiple mailboxes. The KMT came to rest on its side.

The man was reported to not have been wearing a helmet and drugs or alcohol were determined to have been involved in the crash.

WSP Trooper Kelsey Harding told Whatcom News the man would be cited for driving under the influence.

The southbound lanes of Guide Meridian were blocked on and off for over an hour during the initial response and subsequent investigation.
