Man sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to 6 felony property crimes

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Boyd Edward Duffey, age 41, pled guilty on March 31st in Whatcom County Superior Court to multiple felony property crimes and was sentenced to 19 months in prison with credit for time in custody while awaiting resolutions to his court cases.

In July 2021, Duffey was booked into Whatcom County Jail and charged with suspicion of 2 counts of 3rd degree theft and 2nd degree robbery while already facing other felony charges stemming from 4 incidents dating back to June 2020.

Duffey pled guilty pled guilty to felony charges of 1st degree theft, 1st degree possessing stolen property and 1st degree theft exceeding $5,000 and received a sentence of 9.75 months in prison plus a year in community custody. He also pled guilty to 2 counts of felony 2nd degree burglary and received a sentence of 19 months plus 19 months in community custody. He also pled guilty to a felony charge of 2nd degree stolen property trafficking and was sentenced to 12.75 months in prison and 12.75 month in community custody. All sentences are to be served concurrently. He was also ordered to pay $1,573 in restitution, fees and fines.

Duffey had a prior felony conviction for 2nd degree theft in 2019.
