FERNDALE, Wash. — Aid and law enforcement were dispatched to the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Main Street about 11:40am yesterday, February 4th, due to a report of a car versus pedestrian incident.

An aid unit was nearby when the dispatch went out, according to Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Ben Boyko, and reached the scene right away. The patient was able to walk into the the aid unit under their own power to be assessed, Boyko said, and was treated and released at the scene.

Ferndale Police Department Sergeant Travis Card said in an email, the “pedestrian was crossing south on Main Street at Second Avenue, a blue Honda Fit was turning east on to Main Street from Second Avenue. One of the tires on the Honda came in to contact with the pedestrian’s foot.”

The driver of the Honda was provided a verbal warning for failure to yield to a pedestrian but was issued a traffic infraction for operating a vehicle without vehicle insurance according to Card.
