Lynden power outage impacts hundreds, traffic signals out

LYNDEN, Wash. — Puget Sound Energy (PSE) reports a power outage in the west Lynden area left nearly 600 of their customer addresses without power. The outage is reported to have begun about 5am on Friday, August 19th.

Lynden Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the 2000 block of W Main Street about the same time due to a report of a small outside fire. It has not been confirmed whether this was related to the power outage in the area.

Law enforcement reported electronic signals at Guide Meridian intersections in the outage area were not functioning.

As of 6:10am, PSE’s estimate for restoring power was 7:30am. The cause was cited as “equipment failure.”

As of 6:15am, it was reported power had been restored.
