Lynden Fire Department (LFD) personnel were dispatched to the area of 17th Street and Grover Street due to a report of a fire on a power pole. By the time they arrived, any fire had been extinguished and PSE and Lynden Police were at the scene according to LFD Acting Lieutenant Davis.

As of 4:30pm, a conduit running from the ground and up a power pole on Grover Street near 17th Street showed visible heat damage near the top and fuses on the cross members were open.

Signs were up in the front windows and doors of businesses throughout the Fairway Center explaining why the businesses were closed.
