The Whatcom County Public Works Ferry Division announced they will be ending service early than normal today, Thursday, March 30th, to perform emergency repairs. Service will end after the Gooseberry Point to Lummi Island run at 11:10pm.

Electrical issues at the Gooseberry Point dock have caused several recent service interruptions. A problem was discovered during a scheduled inspection at the beginning of March followed by several subsequent service interruptions and delays.

According to a press release from the Ferry Division announcing today’s service interruption, “Due to the complex nature of these repairs, ferry operations must be suspended during the project work and the dock will be pinned and inoperable during these repairs.”

Service is expected to resume with the first scheduled run on Friday, March 31st.
