Lummi Island ferry service temporarily suspended

Whatcom County Public Works officials said the Whatcom Chief has  been temporarily taken out of service about 11am.

While winds have been reaching gusts of over 50mph in the area, the reason given for suspending service is an electrical problem on the Gooseberry Point dock. 

This story will be updated when more information is available.

Update 12:55pm
Ferry service has been restored.
