The City of Ferndale invites the public to attend a community event tonight at the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center. An open house begins at 6:30pm and presentations are scheduled to start at 7:00pm.
On the agenda, according to city staff, are opportunities to
- Learn how to volunteer to participate in building STAR Park – scheduled to be built June 2016
- Meet the new Mayor and new Councilmembers
- Share your thoughts about potential new businesses coming to town
- Provide input on long-term planning
- Meet with local community groups and non-profit organizations
In addition, WorkSource Whatcom Center Manager and Northwest Workforce Council Regional Manager Gary Smith is expected to be on hand to describe what resources are being assembled by state and regional organizations for workers to be displaced by the Alcoa Intalco Works announced layoffs.
