The Leader Block Building on 2nd Avenue and Main Street has seen significant exterior and interior renovations over the past several months. Soon it will be the location for events and businesses.
According to building owner, Robert Pinkley, things will start happening in early December. An open house for the community to stop by and view the interior renovations and learn about the plans for businesses in the building will be held Saturday, December 10th (hours yet to be determined). The evening prior, Friday, December 9th, a private dinner for investors will be held inside.
Pinkley told Discover Ferndale he hopes to open a wine and coffee house in the corner space before the holidays. Leader Block Wine & Coffee will serve coffee and espresso drinks during the day and wines and cheeses in the evening. He said the coffee beans will be locally roasted, cheeses locally sourced and Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Sangiovese and Chardonnay wines from Italy will be featured.
Later in 2017, plans are for an Italian steakhouse to open in the building. Pinkley has recruited restaurateur Roberto Trendel to operate the steakhouse. Trendel is best known for opening the Venetian Trattoria & Bar in Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 2014. Details are still being worked out regarding this endeavor.
In addition, there are two recently renovated office spaces available for lease. The upper floor will continue to be residential apartments.
