Keeping an eye on the river level through Ferndale

Water began spilling over the roadway on Ferndale Road, north of Slater Road, last night as the Nooksack River level reached its current level.

The river level has held steady at just over 14 feet for about the past 12 hours (as of 6:45am). While the river level has yet to begin falling, the current forecast says this is as high as it will get. With the exception of Ferndale Road, as mentioned above, there are no other road impacts reported. Ferndale Road remains open to traffic.

There is also surface flooding on W Smith Road, west of LaBounty Drive, unrelated to the river level rising. It, too, remains open to traffic.
