BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 10:50am, Friday, October 28th, to the intersection of Chuckanut Drive (SR11) and Soundview Road due to a report of a 2-vehicle possible injury crash.

Unconfirmed radioed reports from the scene were that South Whatcom Fire Authority (SWFA) medical aid personnel were caring for 3 patients and at least 1 lane was being blocked at the crash scene.
According to the EMS dispatch log service, PulsePoint, at least 1 person was transported by ambulance from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center.
SWFA Division Chief Tony Melillo told Whatcom News they had 3 patients and 1 was transported via advanced life support (ALS) and 2 via basic life support (BLS).
As of 12pm, both lanes were closed while tow trucks worked to clear the crash site which included retrieving a vehicle from a ditch.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Chelsey Harding told Whatcom News this was a 2-car head on crash involving a 2007 Subaru Legacy and a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle hatchback. A complete crash report was unavailable at the time this story was updated.
