FERNDALE, Wash. — Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) say work will continue north of the Grandview Road interchange that will require daytime lane closures for both southbound and northbound traffic through the afternoon of Friday, August 7th.

The lane closures are required to allow for work on the California Creek bed where crews recently built new culverts under I-5 and Zell Road. Reduced speed limits will be posted through the work zones.

For 6 days beginning Monday, August 24th, through Saturday, August 29th, the intersection of Grandview Road (SR548) and Portal Way is scheduled to be closed 24 hours a day to also build a new culvert. Traffic to and from I-5 will be detoured around the closure via the Portal Way and Birch Bay-Lynden Road interchanges as indicated on the map below.

WSDOT officials note that during the closure of the Grandview Road and Portal Way intersection, Portal Way will be open for local access only between Brown Road and Birch Bay-Lynden Road.
