Just before 8am this morning there was a 4-car accident southbound on I-5 just south of Slater Road. The accident blocked the passing lane but traffic was able to get through in the right lane. The volume of commuter traffic at that hour caused a 2-mile-long backup that reached the Ferndale interchange at Main Street.
Just before 9am the accident scene was cleared and the passing lane reopened to traffic.
