Forecasters with the National Weather Service Seattle office today issued a High Wind Watch effective between 7am and 7pm Tuesday, November 17th.
According to today’s announcement, sustained southeast winds of 30 to 40mph with gusts to 65mph are expected. The advisory covers San Juan, western Whatcom and western
Skagit Counties.
King Tides, the highest tides of the year, are forecast to begin between November 16th through the 20th.
High tide at the Strait of Georgia is forecast at 10-feet at 7:30am Tuesday with a low tide at 12:30pm at 6.7-feet and another high tide at 9.2-feet at 5pm.
The high tides combined with the powerful winds could result in damaging storm surges at vulnerable shores.
