Original Story
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle has issued a High Wind Watch for Thursday night when winds are expected to gust up to 60mph.

A High Wind Watch was issued by NWS earlier this morning which will be in effect from Thursday evening through late Thursday night. Winds are expected to peak around midnight or during the early morning hours Friday.

This coincides with the first of two storm fronts mentioned in yesterday’s special statement issued by NWS.

Sustained south to southeast winds of 25 to 40mph are possible along the coast and north interior with gusts up to 60mph.

According to the NWS, a high wind watch is issued when there is the potential for damaging winds. Sustained winds of at least 30 to 40mph or gusts of 50 to 60 MPH or stronger may occur. This may be superseded by a high wind warning if these conditions become imminent or are already occurring.
