Original Story:
stock graphic - high wind watch sqAs was forewarned earlier this week, rain and wind were to be expected. While earlier forecasts did not foresee significant high winds, the National Weather Service this morning, Wednesday, December 2nd, issued a high wind watch for tomorrow.

According to the NWS alert,

The strongest winds are anticipated to occur during the late morning through afternoon time period but there is a possibility that they could occur during the afternoon through evening time frame.

Winds are expected to hit from the southeast at 25 to 40 MPH with gusts reaching 60 MPH. This warning has been issued across a large region from the coast (e.g. Hoquiam), Island and Skagit Counties as well as western Whatcom County.

Also on Thursday, there is forecast for about a quarter-inch of rainfall so horizontal rain can be expected.

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a damaging wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph and/or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur.
