
WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the Seattle office of the National Weather Service issued a high wind watch today, Friday, October 22nd, due to powerful winds expected this Sunday and Monday.
According to today’s statement, sustained southeast winds of 40mph with gusts to 60mph are possible from 8am Sunday through 8am Monday.
The watch applies to San Juan County, western Whatcom County, western Skagit County, Admiralty Inlet Area, western Strait of Juan De Fuca, north coast and central coast regions.
Weather forecast models also indicate the foothills region in eastern Whatcom County may also experience this wind event with the possibility of even stronger winds.
