High Wind Warning replaces Advisory

A High Wind Advisory issued yesterday has been upgraded to a High Wind Warning as the area has been pummeled since 9:30am today.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office upgraded the Advisory to a Warning including a forecast for stronger gusts of up to 60mph. The High Wind Warning is expected to remain in effect until 3pm tomorrow, Wednesday.

Between 6:45pm and 7pm, a few gusts exceeding 60mph were recorded including two that reached 75mph according to a weather station near Ferndale High School.

Perhaps surprisingly, there have been no power outages in the Ferndale area associated with today’s windstorm except for one on Lummi Island earlier but that was attributed to equipment failure by Puget Sound Energy.
