The National Weather Service Seattle office upgraded yesterday’s High Wind Watch to a High Wind Warning this morning. It will be in effect for the northern interior region of Puget Sound area from 9am to 10pm today.
Reconfirming the forecast from the High Wind Watch, sustained south winds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts to 60mph are expected. Winds this strong can down trees and large branches creating hazards and causing localized power outages.
A low pressure system moving northward hundreds of miles offshore is to blame for the winds as it passes by to the west.
