Forecasters with the National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office have issued a High Wind Warning between 1pm and 7pm today, Friday, December 14th.
High Wind Warnings are issued when a hazardous wind event with sustained winds of at least 40mph and/or gusts of at least 58mph is expected or occurring.
Forecasters say a frontal system will move through western Washington later this afternoon and into this evening. The low associated with the front will move inland well to the north of the Puget Sound area. This will confine the high winds to the coast and extreme northern portion of the area, including Ferndale.
This will be the 3rd windstorm to hit the Ferndale area this week and, according to forecaster estimates, the strongest.
South sustained winds of 30mph to 40mph with gusts to 60mph are expected today according to the High Wind Warning statement.
The previous windstorms this week were forecast with gusts up to 50mph.
