Forecasters with the National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office have issued a High Wind Warning for between 10am today, Friday, January 31st, and 7am tomorrow.
Sustained south winds of 25 to 45mph with gusts up to 50 or 60mph are expected throughout the northern Puget Sound area. Strongest winds are expected to occur late this afternoon and through the evening hours.
Due to the saturated ground and lack of stronger wind events this season, this will pose a threat for downed trees and power outages, forecasters warn.
High Wind Warnings are issued when a hazardous wind event with sustained winds of at least 40mph and/or gusts of at least 58mph is expected or occurring.
