WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the Seattle office of the National Weather Service said earlier today, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, residents of Whatcom County could expect cold and dry weather next week.
According to forecasters, after a brief encounter with precipitation on Thursday, a high-pressure system is expected to shift into the Pacific Northwest putting much of western Washington under a cold, dry, northerly flow aloft.
The cooler air mass aloft will result in the coldest low temperatures of the season with most locations in the 20s Sunday through Tuesday morning. The colder/drier air mass will keep fog and low clouds from forming in the late night and morning hours in most locations. Even with plenty of sunshine highs only in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Light to moderate northeasterly winds in the west side of the county and easterly winds in and near the foothills are expected to accompany the cold temperatures. The strongest gusts are expected to be around 20mph.
