Heavy rains from “atmospheric river type” event are in the extended weather forecast

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — National Weather Service forecasters in the Seattle office are watching a potential atmospheric river weather event late next week.

There is currently multiple signs of potential AR type moisture moving towards the area at the end of the extended forecast period. [We] will reflect high prob of rain for now and iron out the details as time gets closer. National Weather Service Seattle office (October 28, 2022)

Current Nooksack River level forecasts indicate higher river levels are expected following a weather system expected to arrive later today, Saturday, October 29th, bringing 2 to 3 inches of rain to the lowlands of Whatcom County through Monday. Lower river levels are currently expected following next weekend’s expected weather system.


River level forecasts can change frequently so drivers and property owners are advised to monitor the Nooksack River level forecast.
