Head-on crash in Marietta sends 1 to hospital and another to jail

MARIETTA, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Bancroft Road and Country Lane about 11pm last night, October 15th due to a report of an injury crash.

Washington State Patrol troopers determined a 2007 Toyota RAV4 was southbound on Bancroft Road when it failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2013 Jeep Wrangler head-on.

The driver of the Jeep was transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, identified by WSP as Lea Elizabeth Serena-Gole, age 19, of Bellingham, was transported to and booked into Whatcom County Jail charged with suspicion of vehicular assault. Drugs or alcohol were determined to have been involved.

Both vehicles were considered total losses and towed from the scene.
