A month or two from now such forecasts will be cliché, but for now significant rain forecasts still take some getting use to.
The Seattle Office of The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting three wet fronts are about to move through our area beginning tomorrow, October 9th, before a high pressure region settles in later next week.
Western Washington is between weather systems today. A front will move through the area Friday followed by another front with more rain and locally windy conditions Saturday. A third front should move through the region on Monday. High pressure will build over the area by the middle of next week.
Less than a quarter of an inch of rain is expected Friday, October 9th, and a half-inch of rain is expected on Saturday. Sunday will see a break from the rain but it is expected to resume Sunday night through Monday. The remainder of the week is then expected to be clear to partly cloudy with highs in the mid-60s.
The Nooksack River at Main Street is expected to rise from around 5 feet on Saturday to just over 10 feet on Monday as a result of the rainfall. Fisherman and others on the river should be alert for floating debris and changes to the shoreline.
Remnants of Hurricane Oho will pass the Washington coast several hundred miles offshore during the weekend creating large swells which may affect marine traffic.
