Fuel spill forces temporary lane closure on Axton Road

Update 2pm:
Whatcom County Sheriff Deputies remain on the scene directing traffic around the spill site. It is likely a dump truck and street cleaner have been requested. The fluid is not puddling or spreading. Specific location shown on map below.

Original story:
Just after 1pm today, Whatcom County Fire Protection District 7 units responded to a report of a fuel spill in the area of Axton Automotive Deer Creek in the 1300 block of W Axton Road.

Initial reports were the spill covered a 10-foot square area and the eastbound traffic lane would need to be closed while it was cleaned up. Law enforcement were requested to direct traffic.
