Friday morning update

Today’s commute – weather – events. Right here in Ferndale.

6:35am: Good morning. It’s a mild rainy morning with temperatures in the mid-40s around town. We had some unexpected wind yesterday with gusts exceeding 40mph in the late morning and just after 10pm. We also saw unexpected surface water flooding across roadways due to heavy overnight rain especially on Portal Way by Grandview Road and on Lampman Road and South Church Road (enough to close the roads at the corner). These happened while river-related flooding impacted roadways became clearer.

Expect delays west of 4th Avenue on Main Street as roadwork by the public library continues. And today from 8:30am to 4pm, expect delays on Washington Street between Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue as well.

The Ferndale weather forecast calls for rain showers early turning into steady rain during the afternoon. Expect a high around 50° with winds east-southeast from 15 to 25mph. The chance of rain is 60%.
