8:15am: Beginning to hear reports of crashes and vehicles off the roadway. Notable is a reported rollover on I-5 southbound at Grandview Road (
unconfirmed) and a multiple vehicle crash blocking Haxton Way by Cagey Road.
7:45am: Not much has changed, light snow continues to fall and there are accumulations on the roads. No noticeable increase in accidents reported. Perhaps after the snowy December and a few icy mornings in January, area drivers have learned to better monitor their speed during these wintery conditions.
6:45am: Good morning. Temperatures are in the upper 20s to lower 30s around the Ferndale area under cloudy skies with wind from the northeast. Air quality in the area is reported in the GOOD range.
Temperatures around the area dropped about 4° in the past 30 minutes and the dew point rose over 10°. This coincided with the arrival of snowfall in the area.
Since snow is falling some may be wondering: Ferndale Schools have not announced any closures or delays so they can be assumed to be operating as usual.
It has been snowing lightly since 6am around the area and accumulation has begun on the roads. Has not had an impact traffic. Roads should be considered slick with temperatures at freezing overnight and now with moisture on them.
Commute routes in and out of Ferndale are currently open with no visible surprises. Check the real-time DF traffic cams page to view commute time estimates anytime by clicking here.
