7:20am: Good morning. Temperatures are already in the low 70s around Ferndale under clear skies with light and variable wind. Air quality is being reported in the GOOD range. Forecasters are warning of another dry and hot day with a high in the upper 80s.
Yesterday’s high temperature in Ferndale as reported by a weather station near Ferndale High School was 87° at 3:40pm. The official high temperature at the Bellingham Airport was 88°, breaking the record of 86° set in 1965.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect until midnight tonight. Red Flag Warnings are issued when weather conditions such as humidity and wind combine to enable fires to grow more quickly than they normally would.
TRAFFIC
Washington Street between Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue remains closed to through traffic until at least September. The official detour route is via Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue.
