Saturday, May 21st, is the date for this year’s annual Ferndale Citywide Clean Up Day. If you have been putting off cleaning out your backyard, garage or overflowing storage unit, this will be the day to do it.
Not only is the weather forecast to be nice that day, in the parking lot behind City Hall, at 4th Avenue and Main Street, from 9am to 1pm there will be receptacles for free disposal of
- Garbage
- Yard waste
- Scrap metal
- Appliances
- Computers
- Cell phones
There will also be a paper shredder available for free disposal of personal papers and confidential documents.
In addition, there are volunteer opportunities such as litter pickup and weeding in areas around the core downtown area. Volunteers are to meet up at City Hall at 9am and wear clothes they are comfortable getting dirty. Free coffee, soda and hot dogs will be available for volunteers.
The Citywide Clean Up Day is sponsored by the Ferndale Downtown Association, Whatcom Educational Credit Union (WECU), Northwest Recycling, Sanitary Services Company (SSC) and Scrap-It Recycling.
