National Weather Service forecasters are expecting a second weather system to arrive from the northwest later tonight bringing another round of precipitation. Whether the precipitation falls as snow or rain will depend on area temperatures. While most other western Washington locations are expecting to see rain, Whatcom County lowlands, especially near the Canadian border, can expect more snow.
The current NWS Winter Weather Advisory will remain in place until 8pm for western Whatcom County.
According to the NWS forecast, there is a 60% chance another inch of snow could fall around the Ferndale area before 10pm. Light precipitation is expected after 10am and into the early morning hours and forecasters are expecting that to fall as rain.
