Forecasters issue excessive heat warning in the Whatcom County foothills

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the Seattle office of the National Weather Service have issued an excessive heat warning effective from noon on Wednesday, August 17th, to 11:59pm on Thursday, August 18th, for the west slopes of the north Cascades below 2,000 feet.

Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures upper 90s are expected. Overnight lows will remain in the 60s.

“Extreme heat will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses for much of the population, especially those who are heat sensitive and those without effective cooling or adequate hydration,” forecasters warn.
