Late August, Discover Ferndale published a story about a local family as they raised money for a life-changing surgery for their daughter. There are a couple updates to the story the family wanted to share with their Ferndale neighbors.
Karla Stoebe Marsh underwent the first of three surgical procedures on September 16th in the hope she would be able to breathe normally as a result. Her recovery and increased ability to breathe has been “mindboggling” according to her mother, Kendy Stoebe. So much so, it is likely the second procedure will happen in only a couple weeks. They were warned sometimes recovery and the benefits of the surgery can be difficult and delayed by months. Fortunately for Marsh, she is doing far better than most.
Three days after the first procedure her family hosted a community dinner and silent auction fundraiser on her behalf. The fundraiser, needed since medical insurance was not able to cover the three procedures, was a well-attended and fun evening which raised much needed funds for Marsh’s surgeries.
