The project to upgrade to the crosswalk in front of the Ferndale Public Library on Main Street has been completed. The project began mid-February and was expected to continue until mid-March.
The crosswalk is now equipped with manually activated flashing lights and a refuge island in the middle. Pedestrians should activate the lights to alert vehicles of their presence in the crosswalk.
Drivers should be aware the flashing lights are a signal to stop and yield to pedestrians using the crosswalk.
The City of Ferndale will host a ribbon cutting at noon, March 30th. This will initially convene in the Ferndale Library meeting room, then move out to the crosswalk.
