First responders dispatched to Wiser Lake due to report of someone being tossed into the water

LYNDEN, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the boat launch parking lot on E Wiser Lake Road about 2:25pm on Thursday, February 29th, due to unconfirmed reports of persons or a person putting another into the water according to radio transmissions at the time.

North Whatcom Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Jason Van der Veen told Whatcom News they arrived to find a patient who did not require transportation by ambulance.

The WCSO dispatch log shows 2 dispatches at that time to the Wiser Lake area. A “watch for in progress” and a “suspicious circumstances in progress.”

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Spokesperson Deb Slater told Whatcom News that deputies responded to the boat launch for a medical emergency. “No one was transported to the ER or arrested by WCSO,” she said.

The Bellingham Police Department press log shows an “assist agency request” from WCSO for a drug sniffing K9 unit at 2:48pm at the same location.
