There’s no burn ban around this fireworks holiday so it is probably a good idea to know the local law about discharging fireworks on New Years Eve and Day.
Setting off fireworks within Ferndale and in Whatcom County is legal from 6pm on December 31st until 1am on January 1st. This includes common consumer fireworks (aka Class C) but not firecrackers, skyrockets and missile-type rockets.
Our friends to the south in Bellingham are going on their second year of no fireworks allowed at any time of the year.
Whatcom County recently implemented stricter times for discharging fireworks July 1st of next year, but the times around New Years will remain the same.
