Firefighters from Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) responded to a grass fire today shortly after 4pm. Smoke could be seen rising from the grass on the west side of the southbound lanes south of the Grandview Road interchange.
One engine was able to quickly knock down what appeared to be a 20-foot by 20-foot fire and begin mop up.
Southbound traffic was backed up as one lane was cleared for fire and law enforcement vehicles.
