Whatcom Fire District 7 units responded to a call of a ruptured natural gas line rupture at Ferndale Ready Mix at W Smith Road and LaBounty Drive this afternoon. A backhoe working on the property apparently ruptured the line.
Within a half-hour, as fire crews stood at the ready, Cascade Natural Gas staff shutoff the line.
Just as the WCFD7 vehicles left the scene, several Cascade Natural Gas vehicles arrived to implement a permanent repair.
