Ferndale High School (FHS) students and staff alike will appreciate not having to dress in layers and bring gloves to the gym and some classrooms tomorrow now that heat has been restored to those areas.

According to FHS Principal Jeff Gardner, the malfunctioning boiler controls were replaced so the boiler that provides heat to the school’s gym, 400 building classrooms and half of the 500 building classrooms was brought back into service about 1:30pm today, Wednesday.

Due to the boiler failure, there had been little to no heat in those buildings since February 24th. Staff had been attempting to locate replacement solenoid and ignition control parts but found them elusive since the parts are no longer being made. As a result, they were also looking for substitute solutions.
