A seat belt enforcement patrol is on from 4pm to 8pm on Main Street by the railroad overpass. Ferndale Police set up a check point on the east end of the Main Street Bridge to stop and contact drivers when they and their passengers are not wearing their seat belts and other visible infractions.
There have been similar emphasis patrols in the area before and more are likely to follow. Ferndale police have asked Discover Ferndale to help get the word out about these emphasis safety patrols in the hope more people will be aware to wear their seat belts to be safer or at least to avoid the $124 ticket.
These emphasis patrols are funded by Federal and State agency grants that focus on problematic traffic issues and locations.
