Ferndale Police and firefighters and EMTs responded to a report of a 2-vehicle crash at the intersection of Church Road and Thornton Street this evening about 6pm.
According to Ferndale Police Sergeant Kevin Davis, a red Ford Explorer was northbound on Church Road when it was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound on Thornton Street. The vehicle failed to stop at the signed 4-way stop, crashed into the driver’s side of the Ford in the intersection, causing it to spin a full rotation. The vehicle that ran the stop sign then fled.
Firefighters and EMTs treated and released the driver and a passenger of the Ford at the scene according to Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Ben Boyko.
Davis said Ferndale Police are looking for information about the suspect vehicle, described by a witness and based on evidence at the scene as a black pickup truck with extensive frontend damage, mostly likely on the driver’s side.
