A 21-year-old male and 19-year-old female were booked into Whatcom County Jail charged with residential burglary after the property owner discovered them inside the residence according to Ferndale Police.

Ferndale Police Sergeant John VanderYacht said in an email this morning the couple were discovered inside a Douglas Road residence about 3pm on Sunday, March 3rd. “The residence had been vacant for some time and the property owner went to show the building to a potential renter. When the owner entered the building they discovered two subjects inside. The owner then contacted 911.”

Ferndale Police responded and took the 2 into custody. Further investigation determined the 2 had “unlawfully entered the residence, caused damage, used utilities without permission, and had left drug paraphernalia in the building.”

The female, identified as Amanda Rachelle Whitted, was charged with residential burglary and 3rd degree theft.
